It\u2019s happening from 13 to 21 October. All over the world volunteers will be organising <a href=\"https:\/\/repaircafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/International_Repair_Cafe_week_2018_13-21_OCTOBER-3.xlsx\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">meetings focusing on making repairs together<\/a>. With the IRCW we are putting the subject of repair in the international spot light. From the Netherlands to Canada, and from New Zealand to the United States.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Repair Caf\u00e9 is 9<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Thursday 18 October 2018 it will be exactly nine years since Martine Postma organised the very first Repair Caf\u00e9. On this day in 2009, dozens of locals came to a theatre in Amsterdam-West with broken items. And now there are over 1,600 Repair Caf\u00e9s in 33 countries on six continents.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/repaircafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Oranje_wereldbol-3-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-568 lazyload\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/repaircafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Oranje_wereldbol-3-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-568 lazyload\" \/><\/noscript>The IRCW is not a big party at one location. The IRCW is a huge party spread across hundreds of Repair Caf\u00e9 locations! Every team celebrates its own party by repairing items with visitors. In many cases they\u2019ll have a special theme or treat. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Piano music, a birthday cake and a Repair Caf\u00e9 demo<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transitionhoco.org\/home\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Laurel Repair Caf\u00e9<\/a> (Maryland, US), for example, will have live piano music on October 13, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.repaircafeglasgow.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Glasgow Repair Caf\u00e9<\/a> (UK) plans to have a birthday cake on the 20th, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RepairCafeKamloops\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kamloops Repair Caf\u00e9<\/a> (Canada) will join forces with ReStore and MakerSpace for the occasion on the 20th too. <\/p>\n<p>Volunteers of various Repair Caf\u00e9s in the US will come together for a special Repair Caf\u00e9 demo at the international conference <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuseconex.org\/attend\/agenda\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ReuseConex in Cincinnati<\/a>, Ohio, on the 19th.
